The Higher Self is our God-self. It is the source of everything. It is the spirit that creates who we are on the emotional, mental, and physical levels.
The Higher Self consists of three parts which correspond to the Holy Trinity in Christianity:
It is the little self, the undeveloped self, the part of us where we are hostile, anxious, stubborn, conceited, primitive, blind, dumb, ignorant, faithless, etc.
The distorted self is composed of the Trinity in its distortion:
One very important element to remember here is this: it is not because you hear an inner voice that you are hearing the truth. This “inner” voice may very well have been called by an unconscious lower self or idealized self aspect in you.
True spirits will always begin by pointing out to you aspects of yourself that you do not want to see. Those are the authentic messages which are to be heeded, particularly at first.
Before incarnation, the Spirit puts together a soul whose function is to be the kernel, the seed planted in the fertile material body so as to create a human personality. In that seed are contained:
Evil itself is a distortion of God, of the God energy and of the God consciousness.
If there were not any goodness, evil would have no effect. Evil by itself cannot exist. Distortion by itself does not exist. In order for distortion to exist it has to attach itself and feed on goodness and on love. Hence, the finite nature of evil—it lasts as long as it can feed on the goodness that it has imprisoned. Once that goodness has been consumed, evil is bound to die.
This is portrayed in Dracula who lives in the night, i.e., in darkness, just as does evil, and who feeds on others’ life-blood—on others’ goodness, continuously needing new life, new blood.
No thought, feeling, or action, no matter how distorted we make them, exists without being created initially by the Higher Self. The initial creation of any thought, feeling, or impetus for action is ultimately beneficial and Absolute. As we will see, because of our distortions, they become harmful and create all kinds of confusion and unhappiness.
On our level of development, in this relative reality, we experience many problems that we are responsible for creating. Higher Self vs lower self conflicts happen often in our lives.
For example, tough love. From the Higher Self perspective, you need to tell your friend or partner an unpleasant truth. From the lower self perspective, you would rather sell out, keep everything nice. Meanwhile, there's an undercurrent of unexpressed truth, which harms both them as an individual and your relationship.
There are three aspects to God (found in our Higher Self): God the Father, God the Mother, and God the Son.
The Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit has been too long a euphemism for mother used by the misogynistic bigots.
God the Mother is active intelligence and adaptability. She receives, She nurtures, She protects. She provides hospitality in Her midst for the gestation that is necessary for a new being to come into the world who will manifest a lot of what the combination of both She and the Father happen to be.
